Our newest Garry oak interpretive sign has been installed in Windjammer Park! Come down and check it out! It’s located beneath one of the mature Garry oaks in the park near the flag pole. The sign depicts pre-settlement Oak Harbor, shares about the importance of Garry oaks to our community, and includes a map of where you can see more Garry oaks throughout town.

Special thanks to the Society’s Interpretive Sign Committee who wrote the outline and content, artist Kris Wiltse who created the beautiful watercolor art and sign layout, City of Oak Harbor Parks Department staff who installed the sign in a new bark chip area around the tree, and all the Oak Harbor Garry Oak Society members, volunteers, and donors who make this work in our community possible!!
